リチャード・ベネディクト・ゴールドシュミット（Richard Benedikt Goldschmidt、1878年4月12日 - 1958年4月24日）は、ドイツ生まれのアメリカ合衆国の生物学者である。ドイツ語読みでリヒャルト・ゴルトシュミットとも表記される。

経歴・人物

フランクフルト・アム・マインに生まれる。1900年にフランクフルト大学卒業後、1909年にミュンヘン大学にてリヒャルト・フォン・ヘルトヴィヒに師事し、助教授を務めた。1914年にはカイザー・ヴィルヘルム生物学研究所（後のマックス・プランク研究所、現在のマックス・プランク協会）に入所し、同研究所副部長を経て、1921年には部長に就任した。

1924年（大正13年）には日本政府の招聘により来日し、東京帝国大学（現在の東京大学）に雇われる。同大学に勤務中は農学部の教授として活動し、農学や生物学の教鞭を執ったり、帰国後染色体の究を始めるマイマイガ等の昆虫採集に携わった。

1926年（大正15年）に任期満了により帰国し、帰国後は故郷のドイツを初めとするヨーロッパ諸国や滞在した日本を初めとするアジア諸国にて採取したマイマイガの研究に専念する。ゴールドシュミットはその交配実験を行いメンデルの法則を用いた事で、性比の異動や遺伝子による性の決定が地方によってそれらの強さが大きく異なる事を発見した。

1936年にナチス・ドイツから逃れるためアメリカ合衆国に亡命、カリフォルニア大学バークレー校にて教鞭を執る。その後は、ショウジョウバエの遺伝子研究のためその採集に携わり、その業績として表現型模写の発見にも貢献した。この業績もあってか晩年の1948年には同大学の名誉教授に就任した。
